Curious.Have you read the Art of Fielding?

One of my absolute favorites, but I don't even really consider it a baseball book, just nearly perfect fiction. I loved the small college setting and how he captured the college-athlete chatter. Did you like it?

it’s been a few years but thoroughly enjoyed it, particularly the opening few chapters… the descriptions of Skrimshander developing his SS skills , yes the rest of the book not so much about baseball, more coming of age

I can’t explain it but although I’m not much of a baseball fan I love baseball movies. The ones you mentioned are some of my all time favourites. Go Jays!!

Reminds me of James Earl Jones in Field of Dreams starting out his soliquoy on Baseball. So true.

I am currently reading "Stars and Strikes: Baseball and America in the Bicentennial Summer of '76" by Dan Epstein. Give this nonfiction baseball book a try. I am reliving the summer of my 9th birthday in all of its 1976 glory (and not just the baseball memories).

Thanks so much! That sounds right up my alley. We are exactly the same age.
